The aim of this day is to highlight the importance of education and tolerance, solidarity, harmony, respect for human rights, nonviolence and peace. And highlight the role of schools as instruments of peace and understanding between people of different backgrounds, race, culture and religion. Also, 30 January marks also the death of national and spiritual leader of India, Mahatma Gandhi, January 30, 1948, shot dead by a Hindu fanatic.
